SPC Singapore Petroleum Company
Singapore Petroleum Company Limited, in short SPC, is a subsidiary of Chinese state-owned company PetroChina. The company was founded in 1969 and was delisted from the Singapore Exchange on 22 October 2009 when Chinese oil giant PetroChina completed its takeover of the Singapore firm. While there are not much history or fun facts that I can share about the company, their red packet series are quite a delightful journey for me.
My love for the beautiful nature is one that kept this hobby going and SPC has given collectors quite a number of floral series. The year of rat sees the butterflies, bees, birds and fishes celebrating mother nature each with different flowers and background color but my favorite is still their 2016 set that is taller in size and much more graceful with the meihua and those carefree little birdies.
Besides the birds and the bees, SPC also delivered fun themes of family and kids which I quite enjoy. The twin boys and twin girls from 2015 set was one of my favorite then. After which a family of four joined two years later in 2017 with a lovely traditional front door backdrop that can be joined. Both sets have the same flap layout. 2018 & 2019 are my least favorite so far because of the one color tone. Both sets has floral background and hot-stamping but the red is not attractive like the others.
I may have some older ones from SPC which I have gotten from different collectors and non-collectors over the years. The thing is I have to dig through bags of old angpows (lol) so do check back from time to time and see if I have managed to get to them > <
