Baby & Friends
I am honored and delighted to have Eastreet Trader sponsoring their Tenderly happy family reunion red packet set which without a question is one of the most popular theme that collectors go after every year. This six pieces can be joined to form a round table dinner view. At the back of each packet there is the family tree of kinship names (click here to see their zoom in version with the translation). How many of their products (with Tenderly logo) can you spot on the dinner table?
Every child will have a teddy bear at some point in time and for some of us the fuzzy love can last a life time, ahem I would be one of them as I still get excited even just the sight of it. Gobear is all about the bear and this year green grizzly is simpler but sharper than the pink piece before. Lot 10 pink teddy is simple but unique in a way that this single design can transform from a plain teddy to a die-cut one, for that it has my vote! E Excel trio teddies are delightful while Teddy Ville Mr Cool Bear is looking absolutely smart with or without the sun glasses. The teddies from Emart have all my favorite characteristics, big in size, thick with glossy finishing, bold in colors and most importantly equally adorable both front and back. Whether dressed in Cheongsam for CNY or Baju Melayu for Hari Raya they are truly adorable. Hop over to my Singapore Page (click here) to discover more about the stuffed plush bears.
Continuing the similar color theme above is the purple cat and it's one eye pal from aloft, an urban-inspired boutique hotel in KL's lively city center. I really adore the design as it speaks out to me and without Mei Fern's help I would have missed the chance to own this unique set. There is a wonderland feel with the enchanting pair from Snails and I am adoring the tiny garden creatures roaming slowly but freely in style. Besides Bugs from Looney Tunes above, we also have Merries bunnies glowing in joy, hopping around with butterflies and rainbow. One bunny even hopped into a mandarin orange shaped hot air balloon.
Above we have the adorable Fiffy babies all dressed up for a fun Chinese New Year. From Merries to Poppies and all the way from Sibu, East Malaysia, this online shopping store for mothers and kids have given us a sweet blue and pink pair of Korean boy and girl wearing pinky piglet head gear while Tang Dao pair has real babies crawling over their yellow and orange pair.
Next we have a few 'cool' illustration of eye wears from the optical shops of course. Rayban is back this year with another set featuring four of their branded frames while Owndays continues to put glasses on their zodiac from the puppy last year to the oinker this year. Two more four eyed pals from optical 88 Mr. Teddy and MU Optik happy physician all ready to greet their customers for a clear vision ahead ><
Adding on more piggies with glasses, the two store bought piggy banks and piggy faces above from my Singapore pal as well as the 6pcs cartoon piggies from another collector are good thick quality and simply a fun lot to join the rest of the four-eyed friends.
Joining the party is SMM Education with their children dressed up in traditional Chinese clothing cheering the new year with sycee, piggy bank, brush and fan. The joining 4pcs set also feature Chinese buildings at the background finishing off with a piggy face flap and tail behind. If you can't remember how their doggy set looked like, just hop over to my 2018 Baby & Friends page here.

Hers Accessories has chosen a cute and modern pig motif that comes in 6 different designs. Unfortunately they have also decided to giveaway only 2pcs out of the 6pcs set to 200 Facebook fans and even that is on selective basis. I was lucky to be selected but unlucky to get an incomplete set like the rest of the winners. They are not the first to run such a gimmick and my two cents is never let your audience down not even for a millisecond. I must admit that I didn't read the T&C clearly before participating so there you go...
Collected their lamb and monkey but missed out on the rooster and doggy before finally getting Foto Charlie mama pig with her three little piglets that is simply adorable. Together with Baaboo the button-eyes plushie, Hanna & Kent is all dressed up for an auspicious new year.

Piggies and it's previous years' pals are in the Claz'room with the beautiful anime girls before and their latest cheeky boy. Can't wait to see the new classmates joining next year, it's gonna be fun!! From Marvel we have Captain Marvel beautiful star logo. Don't miss out the other avenger set from Logitech below. Pureen has not given us a 3pcs set since their dragon in 2012 (find it at my 2012 page here)... cute piggies but not their best for sure, next year maybe? Do you remember their biggest set so far? It's my favorite (find it here).
Instyle Everest piglets in their northern and southern lion dance head gear are a cute pair to add on while Wisdom Education not only took on a four season illustration with the winter dressed piggies above but another pair of children lion dancing (scroll further down to find them). Following the popular Tsum Tsum characters footsteps we have a new bunch stacking high up and they are the 12 zodiac from Leen Clothing & Beauty and scroll down to find another four season motif Black Ball stacking up it's dessert balls topping off with the fortune cat. Going with a different direction which is in circles instead are the zodiac from An Xin. as well as Iron Lai going all the way to space while for a more traditional 12 zodiac flavor we have SD Collection, YonMing and Waku Sushi House.
More zodiacs and waiting to see if these companies will complete the full twelve cycle; Unfortunately I only have Fox Butler and Math Monkey doggies-piggies hence unable to show the ones before. Lego is looking pretty cool with their Lego zodiac since 2016 and I love to see the animals popping out under the flaps while Popular design has less colors, collectively they do make a classic series for the collectors.
Let's take a look at the cartoon characters that join the pig year celebration starting with the popular Doraemon by WCT Paradigm Mall. During my childhood times we call him Xiao Ding Dang (小叮噹/小叮当) and he was always a favorite character with his magic pouch. This Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Fujiko Fujio was first published in January 1970 and was appointed as Japan's first "anime ambassador" in March 2008.
Mickey & Minnie are one of the most famous cartoon couples ever and we have the original version from Jolly's Gallery, while the more popular Tsum Tsum that was created in 2014 from Rainbow Boutique, Sri Bintang, LB Auto, Summer Dessert, Disney, Teacher Yap, Walls and Kit Kat. Fun Fact: The woman who voiced Minnie, Russi Taylor, married the man who voiced Mickey, Wayne Allwine, in 1991. They were married until Wayne's death in 2009, WOW!!
Time for some Ice cream and we have Walls continuing their Tsum Tsum series with another 5pc set. Pluto and Goofy were out to celebrate the year of dog and so it's Piglet's turn this round. Not only that he brought Pooh bear along, he invited his friends from Monster Inc, Toys Story, Big Hero 6 and Frozen, what a party! The original Toy Story characters are joining the party with their Raya set as well.
Pink Fong and baby Shark are out serving us Nestle ice cream while McDonald's sundae cone is all free, not just the angpow but the real deal can be redeemed via Maxis app, real freebies are hard to come by nowadays. Ended up buying McD breakfast and lunch on the same day when I failed to get their Raya packets in the morning. Yup I was that desperate (LOL) cos I really like the 2P. And have you tried Inside Scoop? I can't really decide whether to keep the angpow or use it to knock off RM5 on my next scoop (grin).

Couple of more kiddie joy to spread from the big yellow bee by Honestbee as well as the happy Royal Tea girl followed by the three fortune kitties by Miaow Miaow. Hello Kitty by Joyce Pro Beauty is adorable in pink while the salmon sushi gal from Edo Ichi is just as sweet. My Art and My Craft has joined forces to give collectors a combined design instead, still lovely but 2018 was better (find them here). My Burger Lab happy burger together with the seafood friends from Shell Out, Bar-B-Q Plaza dragon-pig duo as well as Toys R Us giraffe-pig duo are all out to greet the new year. Hitsamitsu blue penguin family is happily saying bye bye fever. Mister Potato amigos is bringing us three new pet crabs this year with a delightful crab face flap and a pair of creative crab claws that can be hidden within the packet or display out for more fun and flavors.
Many years ago M&M's was quite the red packet to go after as they were a colorful bunch of delights. Unfortunately I wasn't collecting then hence missed out the many sets they have had in the past. This year they are back with their red and yellow M&M's characters, two of their five original colors. Will the rest of the M&M's colors return next year? Fun facts: Do you know that the red M&M's was discontinued in 1976 because of health concerns over the dye amaranth and were replaced with orange M&M's. Ten years later, red M&M's were reintroduced and the orange M&M's that had originally replaced them were kept in production.
Here comes the signature dachshunds from Hush Puppies with paw prints from their footwear while the apparels took on the golden pup.
Bardox doggy pair belongs to this year and not the year of dog, the pup with one of it's ear torn can be found promoting their diet bars as well as appearing on their official website all year round. It's the kitty cats turn and we have four close up cat faces from Catzonia, the cat hotel where the cats go on holiday!
Going with more red and yellow tone is Giordano with their happy orange and pineapple duo followed by One FM icon Yat Yat (Yat is the Cantonese dialect for the number one) and he is happily cheering the new year for the digital and broadcast brands Chapters, One FM and Wakeke all under the roof of Media Prima. Above is the brand ambassador for Nippon Paint, Blobby a cheerful tiny ball-shaped character. These happy paint drops painted their CNY piece in red while big Blobby brought more colors for Raya.
From the tech sector we have two cute designs that will get both the kids and adult's attention. Manabox is a mobile game and reward platform launched in November 2018 for Samsung users. From the yellow piece on the left we have Rooky on the top, followed by Cutey, Snobby, Bitey and Fury on the bottom while the red piece we have Friendly holding the lion head with Gutsy, Feisty, Charmy and Cheeky making a box-tower. There is the 11th box which seems to be a mystery box named Goldy. Anyone tried playing? TP Link brought it's gadget to life cheering the new year with it's duo in orange and red.
Kicking off the lion dancing for the kids is Unicef single artistic illustration of the lion dance head, lanterns and the children of course. This singleton makes a lovely pair with their 2017 window of kids theme. Twinkle Star artists are going all wild and fun with their 10pcs set that has a piece of an abstract version of lion dancing. The adorable little girl from SDS together with the god of fortune delivered their yummy bakery accompanied by the drumming of lion dancing. Besides the winter piggies (scroll back up if you missed them before), Wisdom Education has another pair of children lion dancing.
More lion dancing are up next and we have Youmee children delivering "fu" prosperity to our house while I Can Read has three little toys hanging on to the character "chun". Another bright and cheerful kids lion dancing to the new year is from P&G with an additional single piece horizontal design using the word chun. Loudspeaker also has a similar pair of unrelated design, in portrait is a bright blue lion face and another horizontal yellow and red piece, both carrying the same simple illustrated hog.
We only have a few pure lion dance motif taking the lead this year with DaMen beautiful and glimmering duo, while a more cartoonish illustration from CNY Hamper and Mika pairs. Putting both years side by side for Mika as they sure make a lovely series. What will be their design next year? Yakult kids joined the God of Fortune to usher the new year with both Dragon and Lion dancing while their Raya kampung celebration is filled with lights, fireworks and lots of joy from everyone. Another similar village motif is from Homesoy, Raya is taking on a lighter blue tone as compared to Yakult in darker green, both are equally delightful. Homesoy Chinese New Year town celebration has one side with the older shop lots while the other side showing off the modern retailers.
One of the motif that I quite enjoy is buildings, be it old or modern they tell many beautiful stories. Melawati Mall front-back adjoining buildings are just delightful with children lion dancing at each of the three building entrance. I just love admiring the olden layout of the doors and windows. Don't forget the other buildings over at my main 2019 page (click here).
TF Value Mart six lion dancing duo is celebrating in six different colors whereas Charity 100 kids are not only lion dancing but also dragon dancing as well as fire cracking. This 7pcs set is one charming illustration of the kids during the dynasties era. Another old Chinese village motif with both the lion and dragon dancing is Sutera Mall six adjoining set that has the villagers out celebrating under the fireworks. Back to the modern days we have Tapir 12pcs small size packets that comes in two versions, one using just Chinese characters and the other with the cartoon family and kids in six different themes, i.e. home, family, bus trip, lion dancing, reunion meal and motorbiking. SIF also has a set of cartoon family in five different settings and background color, love the illustration but the paper is on the thin side.
Found a couple of tiny dresses this year from the boutiques; Angel Dress little lady showcased her tailoring tools from the sewing machine to the threads and needles while Closetmino piece is definitely better in quality, the golden dress is located at the back. Don't forget to hop over to my dresser to check out the full clothing range I have collected so far. Next up is sunshine cuisinière Jo Mamas in yellow (2019) and pink (2018) while the chefs from Happy Bakery and Golden Court are both enjoying a plate of buns and a big bowl of noodle respectively. The children from KK Group, 50 Gram, Happy Feet, Grandis, Cincai Cut, Sunshine, Anakku, Tech Dome, Q-Dees, MyGuru, Aik Bee, Supersave, Noah Ark, IPMA, BP ROC, Jenjarom, SC Seven, Hectar Reit, Village Grocer and BSC make their way to celebrate the new year. Pssst don't you find the Cincai Cut design a little familiar? Find the other company which is also using the same design over at my 2019 Main page (click here)
Here are a few single piece with kids motif green packets or better known as SDR that I was able to collect from this Hari Raya; Toys R Us, Village Grocer, Hartamas Shopping Centre, Hektar Reit Subang Parade, Lego, Cold Storage and one of my favorite, Touch & Go with a perfect 2P. Both Raya and CNY had pairs with their boy greeting girl complete with the correct matching side of the adjoining back design hence placing 2 pairs side by side is perfect for collectors who uses hard cover albums.
Centrum boy and Caltrate girl also went with a similar shade of maroon but still managed to deliver the joyful spirit with the added floral background. Homepro girl and boy greeted the new year in six different colors. The kiddos comes in a pair for the normal version and another four in a folding screen for the VIP version. Their Raya edition is just as delightful which I will be uploading in a later batch. Soy Master also has their four boys and girls out to celebrate the new year in red. Just as thrilled and happy are the family members from Herbaline with their eyes all smiled up under the flaps.
The boys and girls from Kasut You are cheering the Malay new year with a cheerful 5pcs set while Han Culture Centre has a lovely theme of ethnic groups of Malaysia that includes not only the Malay, Chinese, Indians but the Sabah’s and Sarawak’s indigenous tribes as well. I am no expert but the lady in black on the far left could be of Murut, also known as the ‘hill people’. From fearless hunters, ritual fire dances welcoming the darkness, to banging gongs scaring away evil spirits, Murut has a rich collection of traditions that includes the popular bamboo dance. On the far right, we have the Iban lady from the largest ethnic group in Sarawak, many of whom converted to Christianity. Among the more famous traits of the Iban are tribal tattoos created by traditional bamboo needles along with their infamous rituals.
Hurix's continued with their 5pcs set this year and I am loving the new look, definitely more "present-day" compared to last year choice of floral hence my no.1 from them so far; My two other favorite is their 2017 lion dance and 2013 fish that I have yet the time to upload to my FB album so find them over at my 2013 new treasures here instead. GDex is giving us the same classical illustration of the kids and adults by showing us how they spent their leisure time in the old days. Citrex and Perfect Planet also has their own boy and girl out to wish all a prosperous new year, both Chinese New Year and Hari Raya.
Here's more kawaii designs from the Japanese eateries this year with Empire Sushi girl and boy pair that is showing off those big anime eyes, Sushi King girls and boys 4pcs set each celebrating CNY with a different mask that also works as the flap, Sushi House (Update: I just realized its a 4pcs set so mine is incomplete) with their sushi pals and Super Dining with just a yellow flowery pattern piece that would have been a perfect match if they had included the same Jap dolls from 2018. Also featuring the Japanese doll is BNX pair but in darker and glossier shades.
Time for the fortune kitties to shine starting with the biggest set of all from Setapak Central and their six lucky felines all nicely tucked in a folding screen that has a shape of the cat's head with its pointy ears. It's a beautiful quality set and needless to say that I was extremely happy to be able to trade a set back. We also have a lovely four season set from Black Ball. Do you remember the other four season set over at the top where the piggies were hanging out?
Introducing the new Oishi, "Oyoshi", the rebranding initiative that explains Oishi means 'delicious' while Oyoshi is taking the delectable taste to the next level... I am sure there is more story behind the name change (hmm). Anyway so happened I did a collage of all the Oishi(s) since 2014 so head on over to those fortune kitties over at my 2018 Baby & Friends page (click here).
We have more Japanese flavors from Shokubutsu three tall and beautiful kimono girls-boy as well as Top Class five adorable on'nanoko which means girl in Japanese. I was very determined to get Shokubutsu despite the several trips to the pharmacy (grin). As for Top Class, I was one of the lucky ones to caught the trading spree from a new collector who has stacks for trade and doesn't mind taking prior years sets. Moving on with the three brother bears Grizzly, Panda and Ice Bear from Cartoon Network, a popular design this year and Shihlin is one of the few that I came across. Hop over to my Singapore page (click here) to find out who are the other We Bare Bears fan.
Bar Wang Rice above has a pair of adorable opera male and female characters, the jing and dan in a colorful cartoon illustration. Next, meet Red More and Blue More from Wagyu More and their friends Dr. Pig, Hiyoko the chicken, and Cow Cow! These characters have great fun and yummy adventures for many years until they finally arrived at Malaysia in the autumn of 2018 but not before concurring Hong Kong in 2014. Debuting their first red packets in Malaysia is a four pieces set that can be joined to form one big happy More family!
Introducing Maimai, the ambassador for Maica Laminates. I only began chasing after Maimai delightful red packets in 2017 and was lucky to win from their FB contest then. While I couldn't say the same for 2018, the pigs definitely brought me a little more luck. Coincidentally both the 6pcs sets I have matched up beautifully and while I love both, my favorite is those adorable chubby chickens over a more simpler design this year.
Fun Facts: The cherubic mascot was born in the afternoon of 11 January 2011 and was named Maimai, a combination of “M” which stands for “Mother” and “Ai” which means love in the Chinese and Japanese language.

It's all about rekindling our childhood memories when it comes to Looney Tunes and their red packets over the years are full of stories to share. The 2017 & 2018 are of similar flavor with 2016 out on sea under the pink auspicious blossom and 2018 on land with lion dancing and fireworks. 2015 & 2016 are also similar as both years used it's white lil' lamb mascot. The latest 2019 Chibi comes in a fresh new look, bigger in size both the packets and the characters; Bugs, Taz, Tweety and of course the chibi of the year Porky! If you are wondering what Chibi means it is actually a Japanese slang word (ちび or チビ) describing something short while the word is often taken offensively when directed toward a person but when is used in manga, anime and in our case red packets, it tends to have a positive, kawaii connotation.
Here's a quick snapshot of the 2015 and 2016 red packets (that I missed out) from Tenderly FB page.
