Welcome to the tiger's den. We have moved on to another year, from the oxen 牛 to the big and beautiful feline, the tiger 虎. My first maiden for the year is the Citibank Shanghainese, once again credit to Mei Fern (xoxo). These beauty queens do look familiar ya... scroll down to see if you can spot the same maiden with a slightly different angel below (grin). The Opera beauties are taking the stage in this new decade with Watson three bright shining lady stars as well as Bausch+Lomb four charming characters peeping from the curtains behind. Both are equally vibrant and definitely captures anyone's attention at first glance. Do you prefer the 2020 opera or their 2019 Shanghai ladies?

Introducing a contemporary illustration of the Chinese ladies from Bausch+Lomb the first from the Canada contact lens supplier. The four maidens each with her own oriental fashion look caught the collectors attention immediately and was a total hit, bravo! Pretty woman walking down the Love Beauty Shopss street. I fell in love with them at first sight but only managed to trade them back a year later.

Forest Birdnest House also came to me a year later but it was worth the wait as both the sets are simply dreamy for me; The 2019 black maiden elegantly carries the garden floral while the 2018 blossom petals fall upon the ancient maidens. I simply adore Iconic couple illustration, both 2018 and 2019. Those fine die-cut front flaps alongside with the charming butterflies and flowers are turning collectors head.

The Japanese dolls are up next with the single orange Kokeshi doll from PDX while the highlight is definitely my one and only Urawa Auto girls above, each in a vibrant background surrounded by big peonies while Odor-X presented their kawaii wooden dolls in beautiful Japan scenery, cherry blossom in 2018 and silver grass pasture in 2019. The Urawa series is very much hard to get as I failed many times trading the later ones. I gave up eventually...

The Shanghai lady in her green cheongsam from 11street is quite chic, though I wished it was a set, i.e. four different color cheongsam would be a delightful match > < One of my very first set of angpow in 2019 was the six ancient maidens from Nagamas Printing. This lovely sixes is also used by Ampang Yong Tau Foo that I do not have (grin).

Yong Sheng continues with their Nyonya ladies, this year looking lovelier with a more prominent background floral print compared to a simpler 2019 but still not as catchy as their 2018 as well as their 2017 pair in pink while their older designs in 2016 & 2015 is a little more traditional in their 3pc set and 4pc set respectively. Check out their 2011 design here as well. Nevertheless they all look pretty gorgeous together. Below we have an adorable pair from Q&Y Builder that cleverly used both front and back to make an adjoining Chinese painting featuring the opera ladies as well as the Empresses.

More lovely ladies from Nini Fashion with their fine illustration of lady with the traditional Chinese umbrella while The History of Whoo Malaysia and Guan Jun Enterprise both uses a livelier approach, the former with two beautiful Korean ladies and the latter with four beauties of different ethnic groups. Want to take a wild guess of how many ethnic groups are there in China?
Next we have a few more traditional maiden sets from 2018. Touch City delivered that extra feel with the golden brown screen folder. One of my FB 2018 contests winning that gave away a special edition of 仙女下凡 the human goddess illustration is from 茶香斋 Cha Xiang Zhai Malaysia, designed by A Gem. Unfortunately Victoria Beauty is missing the other half that comes in blue and pink.

Returning to the year 2017 we have Schrammek, YG and Ampang Yong Tau Foo's version of their beautiful Chinese artwork of ancient maiden dressed elegantly in their traditional clothing; Ampang Yong Tau Foo also have another version of little Japanese dolls set while Symphony Academy of Music six Korean dolls are even lovelier in their special die cut casing.

Another Shanghai maiden theme and this round F&N is giving these ladies a fresh look with their orange Fanta in 2018 and my kids favorite soda, Fanta grape in 2019. Check out the Grand Shanghai ladies from 2017 and 2018, quite a popular choice they are and always a favorite among the collectors. D-Link Singapore is going Shanghai as well with their duo paired with two pieces qipao inserts-casing.
