Kicking off 2009, the year of Ox with my all time favorite Swarovski piece (click here to view the 2015 design under HK 2015). On the right is the simple yet elegant piece from Pan Pacific Hotel Singapore with a very classy floral flap design. Below is Deutsche Bank and its lovely Chinese Fan-Floral piece.

Here comes the Oxen... and FairPrice single piece chinese garden with a waterfall-river and red ox is simply one of my favorite single designs of all as not only a front and back match but a continuous matching set. This is really my type of red packets, vibrant, symbolic and versatile and even though it uses thin paper the printing quality is super. RHB also has the same continuous match with a more local 'kampung' (hometown) feel; loving the design but lacking in quality.
Check out the Antalis 2 pcs set which I recently received the matching pair from a dear friend. She also gave me the mice and dragon pieces which I have not updated my albums yet and so begins the search for the rest of the family members (grin). Bank of China and Hurix's cutie cows are both adorable, the former has really good thick paper quality. Next we have Alliance golden ox piece followed by United Daily News cute little cow on the top and Ambank with another small lightly shaded almost unnoticeable ox at the bottom left. Hong Leong on the other hand has a much bigger charging bull. Both Isetan and Red Box also uses the ox, simple and nice while Magnum 4D yellow ox a little plain compared to Yeo's, AD Time has a really shiny piece with a big ox head as the flap, pretty cool.

CUTIES: Snoopy and Kim Gary panda both so cuddly... M&M a 5pcs set which I do not have in my collection is as always colorful and joyful and so is XOX in its bright orange theme. Coca-cola and Drinho used little boy and girl theme and is just as cheery like the DBS mother-child set above. Tong Lok has a very unique purple piece with a traditional Chinese baby and a pair of lucky fish. LG gave us a very warm family piece featuring a house of its appliances with CNY decoration. Couldn't resist to upload a larger view of the adorable home!
A small size packet, Guinness piece on the left is filled with ancient chinese wordings in the background and an enlarged 福 (Fu) with very fine chinese art within. I am loving everything that this little beauty has to offer. LION DANCE: Besides RHB's lion dance piece above, Pacific NgiuKee and Singapore Press Holdings both have their own beautiful single design, full of Chinese tradition feel and marvelous building art displayed, gotta zoom in and have a look! |
From the banks we have seen the beautiful Deutsche bank, the adorable BOC and DBS; Ambank, Hong Leong and Alliance each with their own versions of oxen. OCBC has another beautiful set this year with its 4-pc flower pot theme. CIMB Private used floral background with a golden 福 (Fu) word as a vase while CIMB Club and Group both used bamboo theme. Below we have HSBC with beautiful floral designs especially the Premier front and back matching prints using contrast effects, good long lasting quality paper too!
More from the banks above we have UOB lovely gold piece with red emboss floral prints; Standard Chartered Malaysia and Singapore both used 如意 (meaning "as desired"), Public Bank used a yellow 福 (Fu) while HP a golden one with bright background colors. Moving on to fish theme we have from Citibank above, unfortunately it is incomplete (set); Ooi & Khor Dental which is like a painting on the wall piece; Lo Hong Ka did a fish in the pond view; Singapore Pool has a lovely goldfish pair on its front and back and finally Giant with its pool of Koi fish. A little more about the meaning of fish (t: 魚; s: 鱼 - yú) - surplus (余, yú), abundance, wealth (the fish is one of the "Eight Buddhist symbols of good fortune") koi fish - success and wealth.
FLORAL PRINTS: Mid Valley Chinese Fan with plum blossoms is beautiful and so is HP Vivienne Tam piece. Le Ann CT Boutique also used plum blossoms also known as 梅花 (mei hua) with a front and back match piece. Loving Xixili colorful flower-patterned design while Toyota Merit used a orange floral with a pink background. Mcdonald's, Trend Micro and Parkson each has their own share of blossomy impression.
From the supermarkets, Carrefour and Tesco below are small size packets using plum blossoms mei hua and the latter a cheerful family theme. F&N used fortune symbols for their 4-pc set (pineapple, bamboo, mei hua and the lucky cat).

Wrapping up 2009 (for now) we have some very charming miscellaneous packets; above we have a set of 4-pc adorable oxen each with a different flowery back frame, even the oxen bodies have delightful floral prints; on the left is a 2D packet with fine chinese art; and finally the wedding series below from Crocodile-Double Vision sweety "The Wedding Game" and a store bought set of 3 Chinese wedding couple designs. |
