One of my new habit when I scan my red packets these days is to look back at the past designs from the same company. Looking at them collectively is where I get the extra kick to put them altogether side by side. The feeling is just like completing a puzzle and the end result is always very satisfying.
Above we have from Warakuya we have this year rat-scal feasting and singing just like their predecessor the jolly buta. Didn't expect to be able to continue the series especially not after the commotion among my cousins last year ><
While lion dancing can be found in almost every other red packet design, Mika is probably the only few giving them the leading role this ratty year, at least in my collection so far. The continuance of these big, playful and yet gentle lions from their 2018 & 2019 pairs definitely make a beautiful series. Do you remember which year we had the most lion dancing red packets? Find out here.
Welcome to my m&m collection, the colorful chocolate candy we all grew up with. I do know there are more from the past but I am happy to stick to these for now. Not too sure if there is one for 2018 though. Below we have Juice Work with their tall & slim edition from 2015-2018. Their 2014 is a horizontal pair that I do not have. 2019 marked a new beginning for them and so far they have been consistent with the size which is taller and wider. Let's see what 2021 shall brings us.
Stumbled upon Jenjarom series some years ago and fell in love with their zodiac motif despite the single design, they make a great family. I have Bens with their zodiac, building and floral pieces, going all the way back to 2015 when the grocer chain was still under BIG Group. The goat trio were one of the earliest set that I had chased after because I fell in love with the chic design that was not of the usual traditional look. The monkey and rooster followed closely behind with vibrant colors and artwork even though they were just singles. They skipped using the dog and pig motif the next two years and finally came back with a big floral rat that I very much appreciate. Just look at how lovely they compliment each other.
Below we have one of my favorite series, LEGO and these zodiac since 2016 are absolutely a keeper. Care to make a guess which part of this annual duo design I like the most about? It has to be the Lego pals peeping through underneath the flaps. If you are wondering what was before the monkey, just a quick hop over to my personal facebook for the 2015 Lego (click here).
The ram takes the lead with this next YOY and I am absolutely loving the Fossil series that has continued printing the year since 2015. Whether the prints are big, small, printed on the back or front, a simple consistency with just the year makes a great continuation. Looking forward to the "oxy" next year, don't let us collectors down > <
Dahfa is one of the collection that Mei Fern helps me to secure every year and I am so grateful that I need not worry about hunting these traditional flavor yet lovely sets. My favorite is definitely the dog together with this year chubby gerbils. They have a consistent layout and design style from 2014 to 2017 and took on a new look since 2018. I have seen their horizontal snake and dragon piece shared by other collectors so I am sure they have many older designs before then. Did you notice that they have been using zodiac for many years but skipped the pig? <(○`(●●)´○)>
Popular is a design that one might just think it's the same every year. That is because they maintained the color, size and zodiac motif since 2015. Look how lovely they are collectively and even though I am not the biggest fan I do appreciate the continuation of the series. Vitally skipped their mascot in 2019 but back again in 2020 along with the mouse.
Zodiac series over the years are fun and I had a blast chasing after them; Maintaining the flap design, Adcellent roosters, doggies and their latest mice are standalone but looking quite lovey side by side while Dabing is one my favorite over the years as they continue to release their face zodiac since 2017, absolutely a charming set. I started following Hwa Loong Glass in 2018 through their Facebook giveaways and love the continuation of the building motif.
Global Max Print has a few designs each year, not that easy to chase after especially for the recent years. The only 2019 version I have is their 3pcs piggy which matches quite nicely with the 2020 mice trio. I also managed to get their 3pcs horizontal set below and that's about it. My only complete series would be their 2018 while I believe my 2016 & 2017 is probably missing something (click on the year for a quick view).
I got my first Infinitus in 2017 and quite like the rooster ride motif then. I didn't come across their 2018 pink single and their red duo in 2019 either. My son got an angpow in 2020 from his school and I was wondering if it was a single design or part of a set. Shortly after that a collector posted a trade for all three pieces (i.e. 2019 & 2020) in the Chinese Facebook group.
Next is Toys R Us a very popular all time favorite kids to go to when I was growing up. They have met quite a few competitors over the last decade but still holding on tight, well at least over at this part of the world. I was in the US in 2018 and had the opportunity to witness one of it's outlet close down in Cary, NA. Had a blast picking up the remaining toys that were going for only $1-2 and got some real good bargains! I am also a fan of their red packets and have been hunting for the monkey for two years now (hmm).
I started collecting Q-Dees because my son's godfather sent his children to the center. I also had the chance to grab their 2017 Raya and Deepavali as Q-Dees was clearing their left over money packets then. Hence I am quite proud of the 2017 3P set that is made up of seven pieces altogether. They have opted for single design over the last two years with their last pair in 2018 which was also the only design without the Q-dees children.
Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks is next with not much of consistency in their yearly releases. From different sizes of short packets in 2012 till 2015, to a taller portrait pair in 2017, subsequently moved to cartoon characters in 2018, 2019 & 2020. I have finally found the lamb (lol) which I traded a pair back a long time ago and it was in one of my unopened mails (grin). My favorite so far is the monkey trio which is the very first set that I went to dine for. None of my family members fancy the food so I have to trade them ever since (◡‿◡˶)
Here comes the big grizzly from Go Bear and this is one friendly and helpful bear. The bears are here to help you make decision as to which credit card, insurance or financial assistant is the best choice. Curious about them? Just google Go Bear and you will find this adorable brown bear waiting to serve you.
Innisfree caught my attention in 2018 with the Snoopy edition. It did took me some time to hunt down the Charlie Brown and Snoopy piece and it was worth all the effort. 2019 was rather simple for me but when 2020 came it gave the design a reason to shine. I couldn't remember how I got the monkey in 2016 but I surely didn't manage to collect the rooster back in 2017 > <
Anyone misses going to the cinema? I was so looking forward to catch Wonder Women and Black Widow since last year. Seems like both my superhero ladies have been challenged by the Covid-19 monster! Anyway TGV five Mickey logo is quite adorable and much catchy compared to their 2019 design... not sure if there will be a 2021 to follow.

Here's my Purple Cane collection with a surprise freebies of the 2007 & 2010 piece from a Malay collector just recently. I only started to collect from 2015 onward and my favorite so far is their latest duo with a change of the flap layout, thicker paper and sharper print quality. There are more from the past which I quite admire because of their unique illustration. Somehow those tilted head people appeals to me. Let's see if destiny will bring the rest together for a reunion in future > <
Definitely one of my favorite series since I held their monkey in my hands 4 years ago. Ever since then I have been religiously chasing after Melilea each year and also managed to tracked backwards to catch the white snowy lambs just last year only. Leaving you below with a kawaii sushi meal from Sushi House and yes I just realized my 2019 3pcs is actually a 4pcs set. I can't even remember whom I traded these from back then...
Don't forget to visit the other companies which I have given them a dedicated page: MITSUBISHI MOTORS, BERRIES, SPC, SMM EDUCATION, DERMALOGICA, LAVENDER, SKECHERS, DEGEM. Come back soon to find out which other beauties made it to my year on year compilation. It's fun to put them together, even more to share!
