The air was fragrant with a thousand trodden aromatic herbs, with fields of lavender, and with the brightest roses blushing in tufts all over the meadows (William C. Bryant). The Lavender flowers, waiting for the arrival of love... this is my happy place, my purple passion.
Lavender Confectionery & Bakery is a boutique bakery and bistro established in June 2000 with outlets in KL, JB and Singapore. While I may have started my collection of their angpow series in 2016, it has been quite a journey since to hunt for the new and older ones.
Welcome to my Lavender corner. From the top we have their 2018 paw prints trio in darker color tone that I quite admire followed by the three monkeys in orange, red and purple which is still my favorite so far. Also in a front-back layout we have their three independent design, the ink and wash floral painting, the kids and of course the dragon for 2012. Fast forward to 2021, the golden bull continues the new hot-stamping floral mouse trio in 2020 and they look just lovely side by side.

After skipping the zodiac theme both in 2017 & 2019, they are back with the mouse, this time round not the colorful version like before but taking the more elegant look with three different color hot stamping, finishing off with a rubbery feel. Unfortunately the scanned version is not able to show the three different hot-stamping colors used. They have orange, pink and red and are quite lovely, definitely different from the past. Using a maroon background in 2019 while 2017 in a bright orange abstract art, both sets used the same prosperous Chinese character Fu, Chun, Ji.
Let's get back to their old zodiac. I have finally found the missing goats from 2015 to join the series, absolutely thrilled and excited. 2014 has more of their zodiac featured, besides the horsey, we also have the adorable rabbit and the chubby rooster which looks more like a random choice. The snake also appeared in one of the three independent designs in 2013. Both 2012 & 2013 sets were printed in collaboration with Chi Heng Foundation (CHF), a Hong Kong-based non-governmental organisation dedicated to addressing children impacted by AIDS.
A special thanks to my cousin Yen Moi for helping me to hunt down the older Lavenders especially the three lovely ewes. Without her I would not have been able to have this beautiful series to share with everyone. I was unsure of the year for the piece featuring the rooster and the tiger (or could be a dog) with two ducklings at the back. It has two different dates from various collectors but if you look closely the Lavender logo is the same as the 2006 design, and so 2007 it is! This is also the year where the flap layout has been the same until today.
Last but not least the zodiac designs from their paper bag that I received in 2016, missing the dragon, snake and the doggy (or is it the tiger?) which I am wondering why. I am sure there are more stories behind all these years. Anyway if the management of Lavender is reading this, can we please (pretty please) have a 12pcs set featuring all twelve of your beautiful animals?? > <
